Derek Hebert is currently a senior undergraduate at the University of Colorado pursuing a degree in Music Education with a focus on instrumental band teaching. Derek performs on the trombone in the studio of Dr. William Stanley, with the CU Symphonic Band and with the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble. He also teaches private trombone lessons in the Boulder region for students of various ability levels and experience.
Derek is the current President of the CU-Boulder chapter of CMENC. He also serves as mentor, practicum instructor, sectional leader, and conductor in several organizations such as the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestra, University of Colorado Middle School Wind Ensemble, and local Boulder and Adams county schools. In 2011, Derek served as the Undergraduate Director of the CU Middle School Wind Ensemble.
For the past twelve years, Derek has also been an active marching band drill designer and has written over eighty shows for high school and collegiate bands throughout the country.
